Job Overview

Khayelitsha District Hospital under Metro Health Services is hiring an Industrial Technician Production in Clinical Engineering. The role involves managing and carrying out clinical maintenance, repairs, and routine inspections of electronic, respiratory, and anaesthetic equipment. Candidates must hold a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) or be registered as an Engineering Technician, possess relevant medical equipment experience, and hold a valid driver's licence.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate National Diploma in Electrical Engineering – Light current (T-or N- or S – Stream) or registration as Engineering Technician in terms of the Engineering Professions of South Africa Act, (Act 46 of 2000).
• Appropriate experience with repair and maintenance of clinical equipment or proven experience in medical equipment maintenance.
• A valid (Code B/EB) drivers’ licence.
• Perform standby duties and willing to work afterhours.
• The ability to perform, manage and supervise the repair of Health Technology equipment.
• Ability to read circuit diagrams, fault-finding abilities on electronic medical equipment.
• Ability to compile technical specifications for Health Technology equipment.
• Ability to manage, plan and organise maintenance schedules.
• Possess accurate technical ability and insight to solve problems.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and carry out clinical maintenance, repairs, routine inspection and evaluation of electronic, respiratory and anaesthetic equipment.
• Perform general administrative duties as required i.e. write reports, specifications and record keeping of departmental activities.
• Ensure a high standard of service delivery by engaging with clients and perform optimally in the workplace by self-managing.
• Train various staff and hospital personnel.
• Attend meetings and communicate effectively with hospital staff and private sector employees.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Adhere to all legal requirements, protocols and procedures.
