Job Overview

The Department of Agriculture within the Western Cape Government is seeking a Farm Aid for Farm Services in Oudtshoorn under reference AGR 34/2026. This Level 02 position offers a salary between R144 024 and R169 656 per annum. Key duties include caring for livestock, facility cleaning, and maintaining farm infrastructure. Requirements & Qualifications

• Abet level 2 certificate or equivalent.
• Working knowledge and understanding of rearing ostrich chicks.
• Working knowledge of general farm work and routine activities regarding infrastructure.
• Knowledge of routine activities in respect of livestock and plant production.
• Experience in handling of ostriches and research techniques.
• Knowledge of cleaning routine activities in respect of infrastructure.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Numeracy and literacy skills.
• Ability to operate equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Care for sick livestock, dipping, vaccination and dosing.
• Clean facilities and dispose of farm waste material.
• Maintain fences, pipelines, canals, dams, drinking troughs, animal housing, and buildings.
• Maintain water supply systems.
