ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL PRODUCTION LEVEL): HEALTH INFRASTRUCTURE

Job Overview

The Western Cape Government Department of Infrastructure is seeking an Engineering Technician (Mechanical Production Level) for Health Infrastructure. Candidates require a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, three years of post-qualification experience, compulsory ECSA registration as an Engineering Technician, and a valid Code B driving license. Responsibilities include rendering technical services, producing technical designs, research and development, supervising personnel, and administrative functions. Requirements & Qualifications

• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant qualification
• Three years post-qualification technical (Mechanical Engineering) experience
• Compulsory registration with ECSA as an Engineering Technician
• A valid driving license (Code B or higher)
• Knowledge of Project Management, Technical design and analysis, Research and development, Computer-aided engineering applications, Legal compliance, Technical report writing, and Technical consulting
• Generic competencies including problem solving, decision making, teamwork, communication, computer skills, people management, planning and organising, and change management

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Render technical services by assisting engineers, technologists and associates in field, workshop and technical office activities
• Promote safety in line with statutory and regulatory requirements
• Evaluate existing technical manuals, standard drawings and procedures to incorporate new technology
• Produce technical designs with specifications and submit for evaluation and approval by the relevant authority
• Perform administrative and related functions including budgeting inputs and report compilation
• Provide and consolidate inputs to the technical/engineering operational plan
• Develop, implement and maintain databases
• Supervise and control technical and related personnel and assets
• Conduct continuous professional development and research/literature studies on technical engineering technology
• Liaise with relevant stakeholders on engineering related matters
