DEPUTY DIRECTOR: DEMAND AND ACQUISITION, CONTRACT AND BID MANAGEMENT

Job Overview

A vacancy exists for a Deputy Director: Demand and Acquisition, Contract and Bid Management based in Durban (Reference: DD SCM 09/2026). The role requires a 3-year tertiary qualification at NQF Level 7 in Supply Chain or Logistics Management, alongside 3 to 5 years of junior management experience in SCM. Responsibilities include managing department provisioning, contract and bid administration, ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks like the PFMA and PPPFA, risk management, and human/financial resource management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification at NQF Level 7 in Supply Chain/Logistics Management
• 3–5 years’ experience in junior management within Supply Chain Management environment (Demand, Acquisition, Contract and Bid management)
• Valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury regulations, SCM Delegation and SCM Practice Notes, PPPFA, Regulation 2022, Procurement Act, Public Service Regulations, Labour Relations Act
• Knowledge of Supply Chain policies and procedures, BAS, and Debtor system
• Strong communication, leadership, financial management, analytical, and computer skills

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the provisioning functions for the whole department
• Manage the administration of demand, acquisition, contracts and bid management
• Monitor compliance with financial delegation, supply chain management delegations or policies and other related legislations and give guidance to the department
• Identify risk management and strategies to eliminate fraud and to ensure efficient, effective processes relevant to the component
• Manage human and financial resources
