DEPUTY DIRECTOR: CONSUMER INSPECTORATE

Job Overview

Head Office in Polokwane is seeking a Deputy Director: Consumer Inspectorate on a Level 12 all-inclusive remuneration package. The role requires an NQF 6 qualification in Law, Management, or Economics, alongside five years of relevant experience, including three years at a supervisory level. Key responsibilities involve managing compliance inspections, investigating consumer complaints, developing consumer protection policies, and managing sub-directorate resources. Candidates must possess detailed knowledge of consumer legislation such as the Consumer Protection Act and National Credit Act.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12
• NQF 6 qualification in Law, Management, Economics or equivalent as recognized by SAQA
• Five (5) years' relevant functional experience in consumer inspectorate and investigation
• Three (3) years must be at supervisory level (ASD level)
• Valid driver's license (with exception of persons with disability)
• Knowledge of consumer matters, dealing with LPCA and CPA legislations
• Detailed knowledge of consumer legislation including Consumer Protection Act, National Credit Act, and Access to Information Act
• Sound knowledge of regulatory framework for public service regulations and Public Service Act
• General management and project management principles
• Computer literacy

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and facilitate business compliance inspections
• Conduct investigations on consumer complaints, businesses, and ports of entry in the province
• Establish and maintain networks and partnerships with service providers and industry regulators aimed at protecting consumer rights
• Develop policies and strategies and ensure proper implementation of consumer protection law
• Manage resources of the sub-directorate
