DENTAL CHAIR ASSISTANT GRADE 1

Job Overview

A Dental Chair Assistant Grade 1 position is available at Ethandakukhanya CHC within the Gert Sibande District. Responsibilities include chair-side assistance, infection prevention and control, sterilizing instruments, maintaining stock and inventory, and performing administrative duties such as patient registration and appointment scheduling. Applicants must hold a Grade 12 certificate and an appropriate qualification enabling registration with the HPCSA as a Dental Assistant. Requirements & Qualifications

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12
• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dental Assistant
• Ability to work under pressure
• Organizational skills

• Self-motivated and goal orientated

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform dental assisting tasks including infection prevention and control, chair side assisting, maintaining equipment, and stock control
• Work in the dental surgery and perform administrative duties such as compiling statistics, registering patients, answering telephones, filing patient cards, ordering materials, and giving appointments
• Assist clinicians with oral health procedures
• Prepare instruments and dental materials for procedures
• Clean and sterilize instruments
• Order consumables as needed
• Conduct inventory of dental instruments
• Adhere to Health Care Waste Management Legislation and principles
