Job Overview

A Counsellor Grade 1-3 position is available in Ulundi, KwaZulu-Natal, within the Department of Labour. Applicants must hold a four-year B-Psych degree or an Honours degree in Psychology or Industrial Psychology, along with HPCSA registration as a Psychometrist or Registered Counsellor. Responsibilities include providing technical support for employment counselling, managing work seeker referrals, coordinating psychometric assessments, and supervising administrative staff. Requirements & Qualifications

• A four-year B-Psych degree, Honours degree in Psychology, or Honours degree in Industrial Psychology.
• Experience: Grade 1 requires 0 years’ experience, Grade 2 requires 8 years’ experience, Grade 3 requires 16 years’ experience.
• Registration with Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Psychometrist or Registered Counsellor (Independent practice).
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Knowledge of International Labour Organisation, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Public Service Act, Skills Development Act, Unemployment Insurance Act, Health Professions Act, Employment Equity Act, COIDA, and POPI Act.
• Skills: Planning and organising, Communication, Computer literacy, Analytical, Presentation, Interpersonal, Report writing, Leadership, and Networking.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to labour centres for the delivery of Employment Counselling services.
• Manage the referral of work seekers to relevant Employment Services and active Labour Market interventions.
• Co-ordinate the dissemination of Employment and Career information to Labour Centres.
• Establish and manage relationships between Employment Counsellors and relevant organisations.
• Co-ordinate the administration of Psychometric Assessment.
• Supervise Administrative Personnel.
