COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER: REGION B (ZWELETHEMBA, WORCESTER)

Job Overview

The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government is hiring a Community Development Worker for Region B based in Zwelethemba, Worcester, offering a salary of R280 278 - R330 162 per annum (Level 06). Applicants must possess a Grade 12 certificate, public service knowledge, facilitation skills, and computer literacy. Responsibilities include assisting communities with government service access, determining community needs, promoting local networks, and compiling reports.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent (NQF level 4).
• Knowledge of applicable policies, legislation, guidelines, standards, procedures and best practices in the public services.
• Knowledge of the composition of communities in the Western Cape and their functioning.
• Facilitating skills to public participation in policy making and service delivery.
• Project organisation, interpersonal, report writing and reporting skills.
• Proven computer literacy (MS Office).
• Self-management and adherence to timelines.
• Written and verbal communication skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Inform and assist communities in the Western Cape with access to services provided by government structures.
• Determine the needs of communities and communicate it to the relevant structures.
• Promote networks and enhance the activities or existing local community workers aimed at improved service delivery.
• Compile reports and documents on progress, issues attended to, actions taken and outcomes as required.
• Keep up to date regarding all services rendered by government and the processes and mechanisms to access the services.
