COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER: REGION B (NDULL, WITZENBERG MUNICIPALITY)

Job Overview

The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government, is hiring a Community Development Worker for Region B (Nduli, Witzenberg Municipality) on a salary level 06. Responsibilities include informing and assisting communities with government service access, determining community needs, promoting local networks, and compiling progress reports. Applicants must possess a Grade 12 certificate, public service knowledge, facilitation skills, computer literacy, and strong communication abilities.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent (NQF level 4)
• Knowledge of applicable policies, legislation, guidelines, standards, procedures and best practices in the public services
• Knowledge of composition of communities in the Western Cape and their functioning
• Facilitating skills to public participation in policy making and service delivery
• Project organisation, interpersonal, report writing and reporting skills
• Proven computer literacy (MS Office)
• Self-management and adherence to timelines
• Written and verbal communication skills

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Inform and assist communities in the Western Cape with access to services provided by government structures
• Determine the needs of communities and communicate it to the relevant structures
• Promote networks and enhance the activities or existing local community workers aimed at improved service delivery
• Compile report and documents on progress, issues attended to, actions taken and outcomes as required
• Keep up to date regarding all services rendered by government and the processes and mechanisms to access the services
