CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER: PHYSICAL PROTECTION

Job Overview

The Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Western Cape Government, is hiring four Chief Security Officers for Physical Protection (Ref No: POCS 09/2026). This Level 08 position requires an appropriate 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree, PSIRA registration (minimum Grade B), at least 3 years of relevant experience, and a valid driver's license. Responsibilities include coordinating physical security operations, managing access control, investigating security breaches, and overseeing outsourced service providers. Shortlisted candidates will undergo pre-entry assessments.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification)
• PSIRA registration minimum Grade B
• A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
• A valid code B (or higher) driving license (People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply)
• Proven knowledge and working experience of legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices bearing on line functions
• Knowledge of information systems, project management, and operational management practices
• Knowledge of Public Service procedures, processes and systems, PFMA, National and Provincial Treasury Regulations
• Knowledge of Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Criminal Procedure Act, Weapons and Ammunition Act, Explosives, and Electronic security systems
• Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• People management, project management, and communication skills

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinate physical security operations within Western Cape Government institutions and facilities
• Coordinate the implementation of access control procedures to mitigate risk
• Report and investigate security incidents and breaches
• Monitor and manage outsourced security service providers
• Perform managerial and supervisory functions
