Job Overview

An Assistant Manager Nursing (Primary Health Care) position is available at the Overstrand Sub-district Office in Hermanus, Overberg District, with a salary of R785 568 per annum. Responsibilities include general and operational management of PHC services, strategic planning, financial and supply chain management, quality assurance, and governance. Requirements include a SANC-registered Professional Nurse qualification, a post-basic diploma in Clinical Nursing Science, a postgraduate diploma in Primary Health Care, 10 years nursing experience with 3 years at a management level, a valid driver's licence, and computer literacy.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year diploma in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment, Treatment and Care, accredited with SANC (R48), OR a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent.
• A postgraduate diploma (R635) accredited with SANC in Primary Health Care Nursing.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after registration as Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
• At least 6 years of the nursing experience must be after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification, Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment and Care.
• At least 3 years of experience at management level.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
• Ability to function independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience with statistical data and financial management.
• Good interpersonal, people management, and communication skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
• Knowledge of Public Sector legislation.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• General and operational management of Sub-District PHC services and related services linked to PHC facilities.
• Implementation of the prescribed package of services.
• Responsible for strategic and operational planning, implementation of operational plans, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Responsible for internal and external governance, including collaboration with other sectors and stakeholders.
• Ensure sound Financial, Supply Chain Management, and People Management practices.
• Ensure an effective Quality Assurance and Quality Management process.
• Manage Health Strategy and Support through good governance in Information management, Pharmaceutical & Laboratory Services.
