ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: LOGISTICS AND ASSET MANAGEMENT

Job Overview

The Western Cape Mobility Department, Western Cape Government, is hiring two Assistant Directors for Logistics and Asset Management (Ref No: WCMD 49/2026) with a salary range of R487 197 to R573 897 per annum. Candidates must possess a 3-year B-Degree in Supply Chain or Financial Management, at least 3 years of supervisory experience in logistics or asset management, and a valid Code B driving license. Responsibilities include managing movable assets, inventory, logistics, reporting, and performing managerial duties. Applications must be submitted online.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Supply Chain Management or Financial Management
• A minimum of 3-years related logistics or asset management experience at supervisory level
• A valid (Code B) driving license, or alternative mode of transport for people with disabilities
• Knowledge and working experience in interpreting and implementing legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices relevant to the line functions
• Use information systems that support the management of knowledge and information relating to the line function
• Develop, implement and monitor logistics and asset management-related policies, plans, reports and processes
• Administer logistics and asset management processes and procedures
• Develop, implement and maintain a movable asset register
• Manage financial processes in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act, 1999, National Treasury Regulations, Provincial Treasury Instructions and other applicable financial policies, prescripts, directives and collective agreements

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Administer and ensure effective and efficient management of movable assets
• Coordinate the safekeeping and distribution of movable assets and coordination of disposal of movable assets
• Administer and ensure effective and efficient management of logistics, consumables and inventory management
• Perform asset management and logistics management reporting
• Execute managerial functions
