ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SECURITY

Job Overview

An Assistant Director: Information Technology Security position is available at Head Office in Pretoria with a salary of R487 197 per annum (Level 09), reference DEE2026/021. The role requires an appropriate National Diploma in IT Management, Computer Sciences, or Computer Systems Engineering at NQF Level 6, plus 3 years of network technical or scientific experience and IT software expertise. Responsibilities include developing ICT security policies, enforcing compliance, administering ICT contracts, installing patches and updates, supporting disaster recovery, and managing security investigations. Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate National Diploma in Information Technology Management, Computer Sciences, Computer Systems Engineering at NQF Level 6 recognised by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA)
• PLUS 3 years’ experience network technical/ scientific experience and extensive experience in IT Software
• Knowledge of Information security standards and guidelines
• Knowledge of Public Service information security directives
• Knowledge of Cybersecurity Act, Public Service Act (PSA), Public Service Regulations (PSR), Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
• Excellent managerial, communication and interpersonal relationship skills
• Strong leadership and organisational skills
• Client focused, Negotiation and consultation skills, problem solving and analysis
• Strategic capability, management and expertise in all areas of Information Technology, creativity and innovation
• Technical expertise in advanced strategic and business analysis, change management, Budget management, Policy development, Strategic planning, financial management, Project management

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide inputs on the development and reviewing of ICT security policies, procedures and guidelines in line with ICT governance and States Security Agency
• Enforce compliance of ICT security control measures within the Department
• Assist with the administration of ICT contracts and service legal agreements
• Install latest security patches, firmware and updates within the Department
• Provide inputs on implementation of ICT disaster recovery
• Assist with ICT Security investigation and implement the corrective actions and tools
• Provide managerial activities
