ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: ENABLING ENVIRONMENT

Job Overview

The Western Cape Government Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety is hiring an Assistant Director: Enabling Environment (Ref No: POCS 10/2026). The position offers a salary of R487 197 – R573 897 per annum (Level 09). Candidates must possess an appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience, along with knowledge of project management, public finance, legislation, and operational management. Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher)
• A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
• Working knowledge of legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices bearing on line functions
• Working knowledge of information systems for knowledge and information management
• Working knowledge of project management and operational management practices
• Working knowledge of procurement and tendering processes
• Working knowledge of policy development, operational management, monitoring and review processes
• Working knowledge of modern systems of governance and administration
• Working knowledge of Public Service procedures, processes and systems
• Working knowledge of regional and local political, economic and social affairs impacting the Western Cape
• Working knowledge of constitutional, legal and institutional arrangements governing the South African public sector
• Working knowledge of Public Finance Management Act, National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, and financial policies
• Working knowledge of Labour Relations legislation and regulations
• Skills in Numeracy, Computer Literacy, Language, Project Management, Accounting, Finance and Audit

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the funding support and implementation of youth training programmes in line with the Western Cape Safety Plan
• Coordinate partnerships to support the training and deployment of safety and security partners in alignment with the Western Cape Safety Plan
• Oversee administrative support to Management
• Facilitate the alignment, monitoring, and reporting of all activities related to the implementation of the Safety Plan
• Perform managerial functions
