ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: DISTRICT SUPPPORT (X3 POSTS) Chief Directorate: Community Development Workers Programme and Public Participation

Job Overview

The Chief Directorate: Community Development Workers Programme and Public Participation is seeking three Assistant Directors for District Support in Ugu, Ethekwini, and Ulundi. The role requires a National Diploma or NQF Level 6 in Community Development or Social Science, 3 years of relevant experience, and a valid driver's licence. Responsibilities include managing the CDW programme, coordinating implementation, maintaining stakeholder relations, and managing resources.

Requirements & Qualifications

• National Diploma or NQF Level 6 qualification in Community Development or Social Science as recognised by SAQA
• 3 years’ experience in a community development or administrative environment
• Valid driver’s licence
• Knowledge of the dynamics, culture and language of targeted communities
• Knowledge of how government operates, government policies, prescripts, and relevant legislation including Local Government legislation
• Knowledge of Human Resources and Financial Management, and Project management
• Good computer literacy in MS Office
• Good communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
• Planning, leadership, networking, report writing, analytical, presentation, and people management skills

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the Community Development Workers Programme within the district
• Convene regular meetings with CDWs for briefing and reporting purposes on progress and problems experienced
• Coordinate, monitor and report on the implementation of the CDW Programme within the District
• Promote and maintain stakeholder relations
• Provide CDWs with relevant information on government programmes for communities to benefit
• Manage the resources under your control
