ARTISAN PRODUCTION GRADE A TO C (PLUMBING) Overberg District

Job Overview

Caledon Hospital in the Theewaterskloof Sub-district (Overberg District) is seeking an Artisan Production Grade A to C (Plumbing). Responsibilities include managing the workshop, performing repairs, maintenance and installations, overseeing contractors, handling administration, and supervising staff. Requirements include an appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Plumbing, varying years of experience depending on the grade, a valid driver's license, computer literacy, and knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Plumbing)
• Grade A: No experience required
• Grade B: At least 18 years appropriate/recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate
• Grade C: At least 34 years appropriate/recognisable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate
• Valid (Code B/EB/C1) driver’s license
• Must be prepared to work overtime and perform standby duties after hours, including weekends and Public Holidays
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 and its relevant regulations
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Supervisory skills and strong administrative skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the workshop and its functions, and perform repairs, maintenance and installations for the different facilities
• Assist with managing all emergencies as per the emergency maintenance protocol
• Compile minor specifications, attend site meetings and manage outsourced contractors
• Responsible for the necessary administrative functions of the workshop, compiling reports, maintaining registers, and assist with the control of the workshop budget
• Exercise control over tools, equipment and materials, and ordering of tools and materials
• Management of the performance and supervision of staff
• Implement the disciplinary code when required and provide support to managers, supervisor and colleagues
